Twiga, First Season of the Del Vecchio Era Comes to a Close

The iconic giraffe is different, but it’s still there. We visited Twiga in Marina di Pietrasanta a few days before its closure, which took place last Sunday (September 14th), and we can confirm that in the first season of the Leonardo Maria Del Vecchio era, following the acquisition of the brand and company by Ldvm Holding, the Versilia beach club has truly improved.

Of course, when the furnishings are designed by Dolce&Gabbana, it’s hard for the aesthetics to get worse, and the liaison between the fashion house and the beach clubs that have ended up in Del Vecchio’s orbit is now well-established after the 2024 season of Le Carillon-Vesta Mare in Paraggi. The bottom line? Beyond aesthetic taste, it seems things went quite well for Twiga. It certainly made headlines for the complimentary Dom Perignon bottles during parties, like the 60 bottles uncorked on opening day in Fedez’s presence. But in general, according to what CEO Mario Cambiaggio told the daily Il Tirreno (confirmed in his role for the nineteenth year, despite the ownership change), everything went perfectly. And the reopening has already been set for Easter next year.

“The new owners – Cambiaggio stated – rightfully imposed a change in the venue’s look, investing heavily from an economic standpoint, then after some initial experimentation, left the Twiga style essentially unchanged, meaning dinner show, dinner, disco music.”

The number of visitors was very high on weekends and slightly down during the week. During disco nights, concentrated on weekends, the average age dropped along with average spending. The presidential tent at 1,500 euros per day (in August and on weekends) was in high demand, as were the disco tables starting from a base of one thousand euros each. And then fewer celebrities and more high-spending clients who aren’t magazine cover material. “Times have changed: today the entrepreneur client prevails, perhaps less known to the general public, but with enormous financial resources,” Cambiaggio confirmed to the Tuscan daily.

So we have a date with Twiga Versilia for next year. What can we expect? Trusting in Cambiaggio’s confirmation as head of Twiga, we’re certain there will be no shortage of the crispy pizza that was on the menu again this year, starting at 18 euros for a Margherita, as well as caviar, the royal plateau of raw fish for 120 euros per person (to share with another person) and the always extensive cocktail list.
