After two troubled seasons to say the least, there won’t be a third chance. A-Mare will not open in Alghero this summer. This is announced by Società dei Bagni del Corallo, which expresses “deep regret” for a decision imposed by the current state of the ongoing legal proceedings.

The case broke in 2024, the first opening season for the Alghero beach club, which then in fact turned out to be a “half season” due to the start of the proceedings that then also hindered the second season. Now the consequences are immediate and concrete, as reported by the daily newspaper La Nuova Sardegna. Over twenty seasonal workers will remain without employment, along with their respective families, while an economic supply chain involving suppliers, craftsmen, maintenance workers and numerous local operators is interrupted.

In 2024 the activity lasted just forty-six days before the first seizure. In 2025, thanks to the unseizure ordered by the Review Court, the structure managed to open, albeit with a significant delay compared to the start of the bathing season. 2026 instead marks a total stop.

Bagni del Corallo emphasizes having operated in full compliance with current regulations, obtaining all authorizations required by law through the involvement of nineteen public entities in two separate service conferences. The Sardinia Region had issued seasonal state property concessions, while the Municipality of Alghero had confirmed the urban planning compatibility of the interventions, all of a temporary and removable nature. However, the knot remains judicial. After two preventive seizures between 2024 and 2025 and the subsequent unseizures, the case reached the Court of Cassation, which ordered a new examination. Last March the Review Court confirmed the seizure; the reasons have not yet been filed. The company has already announced an appeal. “When a company that has obtained all authorizations cannot operate, the message is devastating,” reads the company’s statement.
