In Lignano Sabbiadoro, beach concessions are almost all settled

The Bolkestein Directive is a problem in the rest of Italy but not in the Northeast. While Veneto has already substantially resolved the issue in 2024, except for some cases related to appeals, in Friuli Venezia Giulia the allocation of beach concessions is proceeding rapidly, including in Lignano Sanddoro, which along with Grado represents the most important tourist destination on the regional coast. Over 11 million tourist arrivals were recorded in 2025 for Friuli Venezia Giulia tourism, with Lignano and Grado together accounting for about half of the total number.

In Lignano Sanddoro, 15 out of 16 total concessions have already been awarded. As reported by the online newspaper Friuli Oggi, the municipal administration has officially confirmed the transfer of the Portofino beach establishment to Fast Eat Italy srl of Monfalcone, which won with a total score of 71.47.

“The work of the municipal offices – according to the online newspaper – to redesign the management of the coast is therefore almost complete: in fact, only one remaining title needs to be assigned, the last piece missing to complete the entire coastal framework. This assignment will take place in the coming days as soon as a certification requested by the offices, which is still missing, is received”.
