In Fuscaldo (Cosenza) comes Spirito Mediterraneo, the first Calabrian regional festival dedicated to the world of bitters, distillates and spirits with a surprise: the awarding of the region’s best beach clubs.

The event dates are June 28 and 29, with the Tyrrhenian town in Cosenza province becoming the stage for a festival featuring 23 companies (with others being added) from the sector. Among the confirmed participants: Piera Cadinu, artisan distiller with her Orgosolo Liquori, arriving from Sardinia. The Sarandrea liqueur house, with Ciociaria and Abruzzo traditions, which has dedicated itself exclusively to liqueurs and phytotherapeutic products for decades. Not to mention the great Calabrian brands, Caffo above all.

Moving on to beach clubs, Fuscaldo will host the presentation, unique in Southern Italy, of the guide to Italy’s best beach clubs curated by Andrea Guolo, journalist for Vogue Italia, Gambero Rosso, MFfashion, Corriere vinicolo and Vinonews24 and director of italianwinetour.info and Tiziana Di Masi, writer, author and food journalist, known on social media as the “signora in dolce”, who will be guests at the event. The presentation will feature the presence of the 8 Calabrian beach establishments that were awarded and included in the guide.

Finally, but no less important, the planned awards: “Spirito imprenditoriale”, “Monastico”, “Ebraico”, “Arbereshe”, “Occitano”, “Sivestre”, “Piccante”, “Creativo” and “Musicale” dedicated to Consortiums, the Orders of Minims, specific distilleries and winners of the “Brand identity” competition from the University of Reggio Calabria curated by Prof. Francesca Giglio.

The event is organized by the Municipality of Fuscaldo, the “Volare” association and “Meraviglie del borgo”. June 28 and 29, 2024 are the dates to mark on your calendar. “Spirito Mediterraneo”, the festival’s title, has the important support of the Calabria region, Arsac, Proloco, Unpli, Università Mediterranea, “Fatto in Calabria”, “Terredamare” and the Csv of Cosenza.

Full support and satisfaction, in fact, was expressed by mayor Giacomo Middea, delegate councilor Carmine Scrivano, “Volare” director Maria Brunella Stancato and then by Arsac with commissioner Fulvia Caligiuri and regional councilor for Agriculture Gianluca Gallo. All together, during the press conference coordinated by journalist Francesco Mannarino, they agreed on the great expectations, also linked to quality, that Calabrian bitters have now consolidated.
