Sand D’Oro, Scanzano Jonico

The best beach club in Basilicata, in our opinion, is located on the Ionian coast. It’s the Sand d’Oro in Scanzano, already at the top in recent seasons, but here every year there’s something new and something improved. In summer 2025, for example, floral ornaments were added at various points of the structure and swings appeared on the beach, in addition to the now iconic heart placed facing the sea which has become one of the most “Instagrammed” places in the region. Then there are many projects that Giuseppe Ferrara has in mind, the entrepreneur who carries forward a family story inherited from his grandparents. A spa, a wellness center and a resort will arrive, with the gradual objective of extending the season to cover the entire year. Sand d’Oro is based on an innovative concept, applied over a vast extension with an area of almost twenty thousand square meters that develops across various areas. Starting with food and beverage, the beach club offers a wide choice with beach bar, lounge bar and rooftop restaurant, the latter strengthened last season by the arrival of chef Simone Corino: among the dishes to try, fried cod with tomato pappa, half-moon tortelli filled with cuttlefish ink and, among desserts, pavlova. There’s also a panoramic pool with Dubai-style sun loungers and in the initial part of the beach there’s the Jacuzzi area, with private entrance, designed to enjoy a hydromassage in total privacy. The beach area is divided into four zones: the standard one, with designer umbrellas and sunbeds with cushions, and the VIP area with an exclusive offer of handmade macramé umbrellas and single sun loungers. The kabana area instead offers canopies with double sun loungers and movable roof. Finally, the super VIP area with walkway over water mirror and zen garden.
