Amare Holi Beach, Passoscuro

Amare is a colorful place. An expanse of “comodoni” – polychromatic large cushions positioned facing the sunset to enjoy the show with music and cocktails. Amare could be in Bali, Zanzibar, or the Caribbean: instead it’s on the Lazio coast, less than an hour from the center of Rome. It’s located in Passoscuro, an area characterized by intricate roads from which you access the entrance to the facility: there’s internal parking but capacity is limited and it could be difficult to find parking nearby. Once you pass through the entrance, the impact is surprising. Hammocks, canopies, a statue of Ganesh in the center of the beach. Furnishings aside, it’s the thousand activities organized by the beach club that create the mood you feel at Amare: DJ sets that accompany evenings with artists, jugglers, fire-eaters. Ninety people work here, a number that shows how much it’s sought after for aperitifs, parties with friends, events, bachelorette parties. At peak season, the sun loungers sell out quickly and then the large cushions become the alternative for lying in the sun. The aperitif ritual is year-round: when the climate isn’t compatible with beach life, everything moves to a protected and sheltered area with heated sand, so in November as well as February, the show is guaranteed. Amare has a restaurant, Amo, with colorful chairs open year-round for lunch and dinner, whose bestseller is risotto with langoustine cream, along with frisella soaked in tomato water, tuna confit and passion fruit mayonnaise; don’t miss the fruit cocktails at the end of dinner. Amare is a place for young people where equally young staff work, almost all under 35.
