The alert level was already high and in Comacchio it’s time to take action. Following repeated episodes of vandalism and property damage at Lidi Ferraresi, the Provincial Committee for Public Order and Safety has expressed the Municipality’s willingness to immediately activate the “Street Tutor” service provided for by regional legislation in this sector.

At the table were managers of the beach facilities affected by recent vandal acts. According to reports from La Nuova Ferrara, an updated analysis of data and reports provided by law enforcement has shown that the overall public order situation on the coast is carefully monitored and that current dynamics do not suggest structural emergency situations. “The reported incidents, while deserving of timely institutional response, are attributable to uncivil conduct or property damage perpetrated by young people, with no connection to organized crime,” the newspaper reports.

In any case, this is the time for damage prevention and the mayor of Comacchio has reaffirmed in the Committee the imminent assignment of the service. Street tutors will keep watch through passive deterrence actions and liaison with the local Police and Carabinieri operations centers, working exclusively on roadways and in public spaces adjacent to beach accesses, integrating with private security services arranged by beach facility managers in their respective areas.

As for the protection of beach facilities, police authorities have reiterated that poor nighttime lighting of public land areas can be a factor conducive to intrusions and vandalism. On this aspect, work will proceed to urge concessionaires to ensure adequate lighting of facilities and storage areas. The Municipality of Comacchio also intends to schedule, starting from 2027, a gradual enhancement of video surveillance and lighting systems in coastal areas.
