The area called “Pennelli a mare” is characterized by a series of small crescent-shaped coves, sheltered from currents thanks to the construction of a series of railway barriers, because the line to Reggio Calabria passes practically on the beach here. In one of these coves stands the establishment of brothers Roberto and Marco Palma, renamed Palm Beach not only for the owners’ surname, but also for the presence of palm trees all around. The main feature is precisely the location: overlooking two bays, the beach club has facilities positioned on both and its guests, when it’s time to swim, can decide whether to dive into the right one or the left one. The solutions used to furnish the beach are quite elegant, while the bar and restaurant area is more basic, with plastic chairs and green paper placemats on the tables. But for food what matters are substance and freshness: the dishes prepared in the kitchen by Roberto and his brigade feature local fish and reasonable prices, because Palm Beach’s formula for success is based on excellent value for money, and this formula applies to beach facilities as well as restaurant bills (in the evening it also works as a pizzeria). Quantity, speed and price are the Palma brothers’ keywords and the results seem to be on their side, with a loyal clientele and local bed & breakfasts that also benefit from this establishment.
