Acquamarina Beach, Tropea

Acquamarina like the color of the roof and huts placed within this establishment, which is a small terrace overlooking the sea, with just a few beach spots (we counted 22 during our visit) featuring white umbrellas and sun loungers. The restaurant dining room thus becomes the center of the world in this beach club, made more charming in its simplicity by the presence of wooden logs painted red to resemble coral. Operating since 2008, Acquamarina is managed by the Macrì family, with son Salvatore and father Antonio welcoming guests to the establishment and showing them how much beauty can be seen from up here, particularly the admirable transparency of Tropea’s sea. The restaurant works very well, offering fish dishes like fisherman’s spaghetti with anchovies. But it’s also lovely to visit Acquamarina outside lunch hours, to enjoy a good morning coffee while reading the day’s news, or even better, a glass of fresh white wine or a cocktail when preparing for sunset with views of Stromboli. For those wishing to combine the beach experience with a few nights’ accommodation, Antonio manages the b&b Al Vecchio Castello in the historic center.
